Abstract

The experiment was conducted on 40 intermediate Korean language learners in order to suggest the necessity of a level-specific dictionary that can help with the writing activities of Korean language learners who are learning Korean as a foreign language. An intermediate vocabulary book was created for the experiment. The experimental group (20) performed the writing task referring to the intermediate vocabulary book for five weeks, and the control group (20) performed the writing task referring to the bilingual dictionary (Naver dictionary). After a five-week experiment, syntactic proficiency was measured based on the final test and the extensive writing of free writing. The experimental group showed better fluency, complexity, and accuracy than the control group. Through this, we saw the possibility of using a level-specific dictionary to improve the writing ability of Korean learners
